Reflections on a Missed Blizzard

I was so excited! I saw the red screen pop up on the TV, announcing that a blizzard warning has been issued. We were going to get two feet of snow, the winds were going to be howling, and travel was not  recommended.

For a snow lover, this is the ultimate thrill. It's better than the first warm breezes under an overcast sky ahead of an approaching hurricane. I tell all of my family the storm is coming, and that it may be one of the worst they have ever seen. Make sure they have enough wood in the garage for the fireplace, especially if we lose power!

I hit the sack with high expectations.

I wake up to a dusting of snow. The blizzard warning is no more. The storm has missed us.

I realize I have to go to school.

This happened to me growing up in Connecticut in the 1980s.

Sound familiar?! :)

The Blizzard of 2015 wasn't the first storm to miss its mark...and it won't be the last.
